The new Hazon website went live today. Springthistle did all of the hands-on work of design and coding, but worked closed with Kestin Technology solutions for strategy and general decision-making. The old Hazon website, which we built a dog’s age ago, had outgrown its original skin and was becoming unwieldy. The new site, built in WordPress with a custom theme, is sleek, dynamic, and can expand in any direction the Hazonniks see fit. We built the theme with a passal of custom shortcodes, javascript, and php functions to make it super flexible and easy to make layouts beautiful. Take a look!

We collaborated with Rich Content to create this beautiful and functional website.

It features a rich sidebar of social media on the homepage along with a custom image slider and three separate blog feeds. There are custom plugins and shortcodes, including ones that allow for tabs, lightboxed videos, a fancy donation form, and more.

Holy Blossom Temple and Rich Content also bear the unique distinction of being Springthistle Design’s first Canadian customers!

Longtime client JOI came to Springthistle for help with their conference website. Last year they did a conference site on their own, but this year they wanted something with a more professional touch.

Not only did they get a streamlined futuristic design, the whole site is built in WordPress, giving them plenty of flexibiilty to update and add content on their own. The presenters section is run off a custom post_type in WordPress, so the main page is auto-generated and alphabetized and each presenter gets their own page as well, which is linked to from the schedule.

Originally built in 2004, this website got a major overhaul in 2010, with a new design, updated WordPress blog, and colorbox overlays everywhere. It still has the same custom cms built in 2004, back before WordPress offered custom post types. Ah, the old days. Some day, when she’s got time, this whole site needs to be converted to WordPress.

This wonderful organization tries to educate people about and connect people with fair trade judaica products like menorahs, candlesticks, yarmulkes, etc. For their website, they needed to be able to manage a number of different types of objects and the relationships between them – products, artisans who make the projects, Fair Trade Organizations who represent the artisans.

After creating a custom design and theme based on their logo, Springthistle gave FTJ a powerful WordPress website using all of the latest 3.0 developments, like custom menus and unique post_types. The FTJ staff can add and edit all of the page, post, artisan, product, and fto content easily, including uploading and managing images, meta data, and more.

The homepage features a custom rotating set of features, gently fading images of artisans, and more. There’s also a theme settings page that lets the staff control all other aspects of the site on their own.

Some businesses don’t take checks for payment, and some banks don’t even offer to issue checks any more when you open a checking account! Right to Write Checks has a website and a facebook page and they are creating videos as well. Their goal is to educate consumers and businesses about the importance and advantages of being able to use checks.

Springthistle designed and built this custom WordPress installation with the R2W logo, colors, and videos. Visitors to the site can see the Facebook social box and also easily and quickly sign the petition.

This relatively straightforward brochure website was partly a labor of love, as we here at Springthistle Design are big fans of urban farming, sustainability, and the other values that Urban Adamah promotes.

This website features a custom design and WordPress theme, and uses open source fonts from fontsquirrel.com/ via @fontface to include a vibrant menu. There’s also a custom donation form that collects user information and then allows the user to donate via PayPal.

TE Studio is an architecture and green building company located in Minneapolis, MN. Their old website was beautiful, but run by flash, making it inflexible and difficult to update. TE staff provided us with a new design, and we implemented it, staying true to the original specifications.

Each section of the site has a custom color, which the client can control through the WordPress back-end, the main menu utilizes the WordPress 3.0 menu feature. There’s also a custom contact form that submits via ajax, and a jquery lightbox effect is in place in the portfolio. All of this is built, of course, in WordPress with a custom theme coded by Springthistle, and the client can control all aspects of the site through theme options and plugin settings.

This congregation located in Brooklyn, NY, has just recently migrated from an old Joomla website to this lovely new WordPress website. This site will give them all the control they want over their content, menus, announcements, homepage, photos, and more. Springthistle did the design using PSJC’s longtime logo and a faded photograph of their lovely stained glass roof window. This website will be able to grow with them over time and bring much-needed flexibility and freshness to their online presence.

Created as a partner site for HOWL The Movie, this site is another very custom WordPress theme, which depends largely on a custom WordPress plugin we wrote as well.

The WordPress installation uses posts for the items on which people can vote. Items are displayed in a different random order to each person, and votes are logged via ajax, which then also takes the user to the next item on which they can vote. Votes are logged in the WordPress posts table and displayed in a grid on the stats page. We had fun coding this site!
